We had a chat with “ALERT ME” team that was the first runner up (2nd) at the just concluded VoguePay/NACOSS software hack.
Interviewer: Hi, Can we meet you.
Alertme: Hello Leke, I am ISMAIL, Olalekan by name, the founder and Alertme Team lead.
Interviewer: What did you hope to achieve when you decided to enter the VoguePay/NACOSS hack?
Alertme: Just like every other exhibitor we hope to win the exhibition and get support/promotion for our software if any and wanted more people to know about our idea and solution of tracking/securing their device
Interviewer: What exactly compelled your team to present it at the Hackathon”
Alertme: We have the high spirit that our idea will catch the attention of the audience, be a welcomed solution and also win the VoguePay business hack.
Interviewer: Can you briefly explain what your entry was about?
Alertme: Our solution is a smart phone utility application with the target of mitigating mobile phone theft and provide a platform for tracking phone remotely anytime, anywhere from any phone using SMS.
Interviewer: How did you go about creating the idea that you eventually submitted? Did you have several ideas or did you settle on your final idea straight away?
Alertme: We have lot of ideas in us to show but decided to present this, as a result of our findings on number of missing smart phone and data loss and our solution being the needed technology in mitigating phone theft and ensuring users data are more secure.
Interviewer: What was the biggest challenge your team had to overcome in finalizing your pitch at the event?
Alertme: At first, we’re somehow skeptical about submitting the idea and the moment we decided to submit, the entry has closed, we begged and convinced the person in charge of the registration that this is the idea Voguepay is looking for, a chance and we sure would win the hackathon. Now, he’d glad he gave us the chance.
Interviewer: Why did you decide to work in a team instead of by yourself and what were the pros and cons of this approach?
Alertme: Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much and Having a team to work with you, brings about different innovations and ideas put together achieve a great and common goal like ours.
Interviewer: What are you hoping to do next?
Alertme: The project is a baby residing in our phones and system, in few days we would be rolling it out into production, get more people to use it and create a brand for the solution.
